P5N32-E SLI with C2D E6600 Bios Settings for Overclocking Thread - Page 5

Its not so much temps as it is steppings. For example, I had two E6700's. The first one on a P5B Deluxe, I could run 10x 380 stable (although it got too hot for air). Second chip same board, same settings exactly, and I couldn't get past 3.68 no matter what combo I used.

Remember 3.5 is nothing to sneeze at, Thats an 1100 mhz overclock on the chip that is much cheaper than my x6800.

Yup the 6700 chip,1st love volt's and 2nd run hot, hot, hot. For my oc @ 3.5 need 1.5 volt's and run around the 56c.Now i up dated to the 1002 bios and even with the 1.5 volt's can't have a stable 3.5.But working on it.

Unfortunately overclocking isn't THAT simple. Even when useing the same model of CPU and motherboard, there can be discrepencies in the capabilities of two different processors and chipsets.

Need I point out that Robilar is running such a high clock on a 1.4v vCore because his FSB isn't set any higher than it's default. The unlocked multipler on his X6800 means that he is able to run at 1066, which is the CPU's default FSB, whilst the multiplier is set to x14. Higher FSB means higher CPU vCore, I very much doubt that you'll hit 3.6Ghz without 1.5v running through the CPU and, as I've said before, better optimisations made to your cooling.

thanks guys for all your input, think im gonna stop at 3.5 but just wish i couldpush it just a little more to 3.6 but probably wouldnt notice the difference anyways

thanks again

Wow... Im in overload about the over clocking ideas here. I am working on getting my system a bit faster since its a bit out of date.

I am up to 3.0ghz on the cpu so far with no problems. I am working on getting it higher but I wanted to ask for what you all see as my computer specs , so I need to upgrade anything badly?

Thanks in advance

Weird Question I am sure this is going to be one of those Forehead Slap missing something stupid issues but here goes.
I just want to do a simple Stable Overclock to get a few more FPS out of this old girl, I don’t want to drop
90 bucks into a new cooler to do it because she is getting long in the tooth and it’s time to replace her. I would be perfectly happy with 3.2 I would turn summersaults for a stable 3.4, I popped in and did a simple AI Tune cranked it up 20% (rebooted CPUZ showed the same speed) (Speed step is off) so I went back in confirmed all the normal stuff was turned off and tried a 10% Saved it and rebooted again CPuz showed the default 2.39997 Ghz so the changes are not taking, I even tried a full manuall set up been a while I know I am just missing something stupid.

CPUZ or Core temp shows CPU Voltage at 1.12 39 to 42C depending on the load
All the normal stuff that needs to be turned off it off
