Tough dicisions PS3/360 - Page 4

@tubnottub
You basically just convinced me to buy a PS3, I didnt know it had a browser, I want wireless, and Im kind of thinking I would take Grand Turismo over Forza, and Killzone and MGS4 over Halo3, resistance is GOWs competitor, Im sure GOW is better but resistance looks good too. There is a whole list of games I made that are for both system. So it really only came down to these titles, I wanted saints row too, but they canceled it for PS3 because they are making saints row 2 for both systems

@barry
The 360 would not be cheaper for me, I would get an elite with is $479, and I would have to pay another $80 for the wireless adapter. Guitar Hero 3 will be out for all 3 systems, so I dont really care about guitar hero 2. Ill check out prices on ebay, but in arguement the PS3 will probably be cheaper there too. Im looking at craigs list to see what I can find in my area. Lots of good deals there, brand new 60gb ps3 for $450, 360+3games for $450.

I can also see PS3 gaining popularity the longer its out. The game list is quickly expanding and blu-ray players are dropping in price. Tough decisions, Im leaning towards a PS3 tho. Gotta look at what games are out right now that I want I guess.

Ill help you out here. What is it you want exactly? Do you need a Blu-Ray play, do you need a card reader, do you need WiFi, or can you just as easily get by with a cable/already have a wireless adapter? Or do you just want a game console? It all comes down to what you want and need in a system, dont buy something just because it has extra features you may never use.

Nope. Bunch o lies. Neither console runs games at 120FPS unless the graphics are really crappy. Gears of War runs at about 30FPS and Oblivion on the PS3 looks about 20 or so.

You dont need the Elite to get 1080p...the regular 360 does 1080p over component or VGA.

Id get a 360 Premium and get an 8800GTS 320 with the money left over.

Ive seen a comparison of the 2 consoles; the 360 has better graphics. the only advantage the ps3 has is blu-ray, which you wont use.

The PS3 and the Xbox360 are both great consoles no doubt about it. Of course they both have there disadvantages and advantages. There is NO clear winner. Its all up to user prereference and what THEY want out of a console.

I had the decision to make between the XBOX360 and PS3. I decided that the PS3 was for me. I got the PS3 simply because ot was a VERY good multimedia hub and if I was to be honest its really a mini PC without the added hassle. I got the PS3 for the main reasons below.

1.Blu-ray for future
2.Gaming ( Very good titles coming up )
3.Folding@Home
4.Mass storage support
5.Lots of multimedia support.
6.Free online gaming
7.Online store/Internet browsing
8. The Power of the console ( Cell )
9. 60gb HDD
10.Wifi ready

Now it really does come down to what you want frm a console. As I said above the PS3 offered me more than what the Xbox360 could...simple as that. Its no bad reflection on the Xbox360. With every PS3 firmware update that is released there is always something new added..not just fixed but features added. It gets better with every firmware release and I can see it only progressing more. I cant speak too much about the 360Updates but im not sure if they yield as much as the PS3 updates do.

When it comes to online gaming with the PS3 its great and its FREE, I cant say much more than that lol. It may not be as mature as Live but its sure getting there I can tell you that much, but the fact that it was FREE made a world of difference to me as im used to free PC gaming and rather resented the fact of paying for Xbox live.

Ive also seen people suggest that 360 has better graphics than the PS3...If you ask me they are not much different from one another...Yes I have used a 360 people..do remember it all depends on the coding and design of a game to how well it will look. Please also take into account that PS3 is still to mature a little gamewise so its only going to get better which is a good thing.

The XBOX360 Also has alot going for it in many respects.

1. Cheaper
2. Online play is abit more mature
3. Cheaper games
4. Cheaper control pads.
5. 20-120GB HDD
6. Comes with headset and other great features
7. Wireless available with seperate adapter

Now some people complain about the price of the PS3 compared to XBOX360. However take into account that the PS3 is more than just your typical console but has evolved into a multimedia hub whereas the 360 is purely gaming really. The other reason PS3 costs more is that it features HD right out of the box with Blu-ray...do remember that blu-ray players are still rather pricey. I do resent it when people try and compare prices between 360 and PS3...its not as simple as that as they are VERY different in nature.

You may think ''Hmm why has ENTERPRISE given more good points to the PS3'' My answere to that is that simply the PS3 is very PC like thus has a few more points to add, Unlike the 360 which is purely gaming based. So before you say it im not biased at all.

The fact is if you want casual gaming with a good online community then the XBOX360 is for you. If you want a multimedia station with Blu-ray and gaming not to mention evolution through updates then the PS3 is for you.

Like I said its all up to user preference...theres no clear winner.

Anyway I hope that sheds a tiny bit of light

I didn't really see any comments about all the free demos on xbox live. I no longer have to rent games before purchasing because I can download either movies or playable demos of games. Also the arcade on live is great. I spend probably 60% of my 360 playing time on one of the arcade classics or the HD downloadable games. There are great games like pinball, putt putt, Bejeweled 2, card games the list goes on and on. I actually considered selling my 360 at one time cause I was sick of all the FPS but the arcade convinced me to keep it. The ps3 does not offer this.

I havent figured out my TV though, when I set my res on my computer I cant get it to go higher than 1024x768 for some reason.

I stated before that you should just flip a coin. Well, I'd like to recant that.

I own all three consoles, but I'm getting far more use from my PS3. The latest firmware update gave the PS3 so much more functionality that it really does everything the 360 does and more, but much better.

If you are strictly a gamer ONLY, meaning you have no other use for anything else but games, get a 360. But if you want games and LOTS more, the PS3 is the way to go.
