Is my Q6600 dead?

im haveing craZy problems with my comp and it might be my q6600

how can i tell if my Q6600 is dead or not?

i think i had some arcticlean went in it befor and killed it maybe?

i tryed powering up my system and touch the chip with out a cooler and it is HOT!

it is overclocked? if so, set to normal speed u had before

well it starts up so its not dead..maybe try reseating the heatsink?

You tried to use it without a heatsink?

That'll kill it.

when you say without a cooler, did you power it up without the heatsink on?

I wouldn't recommend doing it myself but running the system without a HSF installed for a few seconds won't do any long term damage.
