Get the 7900GS, It can overclock alot more that the 1950. Not sure about the GTs, but the pros can't overclock very well.

If you are looking at the 7600GT, you should heavily consider getting an X850 XT or XTPE on eBay or something... I see PCI-e versions on there for like $135 new and shipped. Even the XT model is better than the 7600GT.

I'll see if I can find another friend who can donate some sort of CPU fan for it. Is the stock fan actually decent? (Worth $10 extra?)

Edit: Got download and donate mixed up.

Or yeah, like was mentioned, maybe an X1950GT... didn't realize the prices were that low ($140 shipped, before rebate).

You know, with the HSF you can always use the stock one and use the computer, then upgrade when cash is there and OC some more...

Also, you mentioned he has a bunch of old parts he'll be re-using, but whats he got for RAM...? DDR or DDR2? That tforce 550 is DDR2...

Don't forget to check both the "Online Deals" and "For Sale" section...
It's worth a look

I'm most likely selling him my old 1gb DDR2 800MHz for ~$20: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220088

His old computer has heating issues that are still unresolved (I could probably fix them now that I know more), but it's only like a 700MHz AMD computer, probably 256mb, and a 30GB hard drive. Yeah. (Well, he has a better laptop... :/, but you can't really take parts from that.)

No good "For Sale" items currently. Besides, it complicates things, as money has to go through several hands (It's not my money, it's his). But I've been watching an x2 3600+ on ebay nevertheless. Thanks.
