Well they made a boatload on the X1950 Pro. Look around the forums and see how many people have one (or two)
It is a great card for the money and I love mine

AMD is really failing since the Core 2's came out and they are dragging ATi down with them.

But I still have faith in ATi, they will be back
I dont, AMD said if they dont compete well enough with Nvidia this year, they will drop out of the graphics race, they said that last year when AMD bought ATI.

Wouldn't have mattered, this is the same R600 ATI had, NVidia just bested there very best core this round.

The 2900XT isn't doing too bad really...the drivers are just really undeveloped. Remember the first 8800 drivers? 7600's were performing better than them in some cases

your point is what, NVidia always gets better quickly with age, ATI always takes a good generation with crappy drivers before its any good, the 9700pro was out before the 8500 could keep up with the Geforce 3 Ti-500 for instance.

I think shellofinsanity just trolls ATI sections of forums and posts anti-ATI propaganda. It's really funny. Don't you know that not very many people care about what company does what? Only, which product is best for the money. For instance: my setup.

I do find it funny that so many ppl defend ATI and there products when they are over priced for there features and preformance, because i promise my little 8600GT would mop the floor with your 1950pro and its cheaper, i can not defend a company like ATI, who is late, brings nothing to the table and in general for the last 2 years has been late, has had poor driver tools, does not try to do anything ground breaking, at least nvidia tries to make something the rest havnt, ATI has no inovation and no real desire to do anything productive, they want OEM sales and dont really care about innovation, and its there undoing.

Off topic but I was curious about your motherboard. I was going with the Abit AT8 till some reviews said the longer video cards block some of the SATA ports, ended up going with Asus's 3200 board instead. Have you had this issue with your X1950 pro cards?

The ridicule about ATI's drivers is uncalled for. I mostly had ATI in the past, and before the 8800's, no one on the forum beat my rig (the one 7xxx SLI rig placed above me now appeared after the 8800's).

I was pretty early with the X1900's in Crossfire, and I had never a single problem with any of the drivers. Yeah, CCC was buggy, but who cares...that's just the shell. The drivers were good pretty much from the beginning.

It always remains funny to me that the ATI drivers have the reputation, but the most complaints I hear on the forum is with nVidia drivers, to the point that people have to roll back to older versions(!) since newer drivers decrease performance!!!

And ATI isn't overpriced. When I bought the X1900's, they were a bit cheaper than the 7900GTX's. About the same performance, even in Crossfire, and ATI simply did have the better image quality, and could handle AA and HDR simultaneously.

Not sure where the anti-ATI bias comes from.

However, at this very moment I would pick an nVidia card if I were to upgrade. The 8800's are just too far ahead of the 2900's right now.
