Ugh. Memory Problems

Thread Starter
Alrighty, well I have some G.Skill 4-4-3-5 memory.

My motherboard (MSI P965 Platinum) cant get the last number right.

it has a 9-15 option and doesn't go down to 5.

I also cannot change the voltages for the CPU or the RAM, and the manual thatc ame with the board is useless...

I hope someone has this board and can help me!

Please!

Timings I don't know really...

But it seems to me you can change your vcore and vdimm....

Go to the Cell Menu (page 3-22 of the manual I downloaded from MSI).

You'll see the option where you can adjust the CPU FSB Frequency.
Below it you'll see 'ADD CPU voltage'. You should be able to enter a value there, which will be added upon the vcore listed right above it. Thus, if you see vcore = 1.35V, and you add 0.05V, or 50mV, the result will be 1.40V.

Further down you'll see the RAM frequency and the matching voltage.

no, its grayed out and no button I press allows me to do anything...

My manual tells me to be careful not to raise the voltages too high, but my mobo won't even let me.

Bleh.

You have the latest BIOS?

maybe we're overlooking something... is there some setting you need to put to manual before you can tinker with the volts?

is it msi or gigabyte that you have to hit f9 or somthing to unlock overclocking options i havet used either board in a long time. If your motherboard is the vm type were it has onboard video i can see that area grayed out they ususaly disable overclocking on those.

I don't think there is a 'VM' type for that MSI board....

okay, I got the voltage.

You have to use the Plus and Minus on the num pad... Go figure.

well, does anyone know how I could maybe change the timings?

If the board doesn't allow any llower than 9, that's it. I'd just settle for it. I don't think that one matters *that* much.
