my mobo caught on fire!! - Page 3

Ya hate to tell you but put money in a new rig or buy a cheap replacement 478 board. If you fix the burnt regulator another might blow you cant tell whats really wrong without repair documents and a meter to measure points and stuff to see if any other part is bad.

Most likely? your problem was never your PSUs (although OC 60% on AUTO voltages with a 350w PSU, that might have been a PSU that was too weak). My guess is the board (specifically the VR) was going out, causing your problems. Plugging in a 550w PSU and holding down the button forcing it to flicker and start over and over finally blew the cap.

I say put the board on eBay for $5, maybe someone with experience can fix it and get a good deal........and say hello to the cheap 531 and P5B Dlx to replace it.

Yeah, sorry but.. It is what I would recommend you know, I mean to spare you from getting even more parts fried. You know, if there is something wrong with the mobo, it could potentially end up frying everything that it's connected to.

As iampoor said, don't mess with your mobo unless you can loose everything else. If you still want, may I suggest to first try what I said a while ago, get a hold of a cheap AGP video card and see if it works, sorry but I can't help you with anymore but that.

Yeah, i'm going to have to buy a new pci-express graphics card with my p5b deluxe board cuz there is no agp slot on it. Anybody able to tell me some good vid cards that will go good with a 531 and p5b deluxe board. i'll also be buying 2gb ddr2 pc2-6400 memory.

Well, if you want an nvidia card, the 7900GS is pretty good, and not very expensive. If you get the ATI equivalent of the 7900GS it'll be even less.
