How Loud Is an Ultra X3 1000W PSU?

Thread Starter
I ordered parts for my rig today, but I forgot to take into consideration of how loud an Ultra X3 1000W can be. I am spending a crap load of money on SilenX fans, but this will go to waste of the Ultra PSU is too loud. Does anyone know how many dB an Ultra X3 1000W is rated at?

The Ultra X3 1000W, like the Ultra X-Pro 750W, was certainly not a loud unit in comparison to the background noise. During Test #3 (~75%) and the Torture Test I could tell the unit was running if I listened to the rear of the incubator. In Test #4 the unit became slightly louder but it still was only apparent when listening to the door of the incubator. If I had not been listening at the incubator door I doubt I ever would have heard the unit running. The single 135mm appears to be very good choice from a sound perspective. Given this the unit may be an acceptable unit in a quieter cooling scenario if a user can look past the 1000W stigma. However, due to our SM-8800 load tester’s noise levels, we are unable to make definitive sound measurements.

135mm fan... quite spacious and open designed PSU.

I'd expected it to be quiet.

Note that this is a 1000W PSU. Power + 100% quiet are NOT the best friends.

Heh. Well as long as the PSU doesn't sound like a garbage disposal, it'll be quiet enough for me. I was just afraid that the Ultra would sound like a Delta or something.
