Wireless File Sharing

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I have the standard gear: 40 dollar Netgear G Router, 30-40 dollar Netgear wireless PCI card..

I have it set up so that the router only transmits an internet connection. What's the easiest way to setting up file sharing between my computer and another computer which is hooked directly up to the router through the wireless connection? Is it hard? Do I need anything extra?

You do not need any physical equipment. Alot of the time you can just right click on a folder and go to sharing and security, then add it.

Make sure both computers are on the same workgroup, then look in network neighbourhood. If it doesn't work as smoothly as that (sometimes it doesn't) then there are people here to help .

Yes, its just the same name.

To change workgroups, just right click on my computer, then go to properties. Select the computer name tab, then click change. Under workgroup, enter anything you would like as long as you enter it the same on both PC's .

Sorry if any of my explanations are a bit unclear, but I've been up till 7am so far trying to convert a video properally lol.

Yea just right click and share it, but make sure your wireless is secure. Do you have WEP set up?

Wep isn't secure. It can be cracked in minutes.

Bad idea. If I were you I'd change back. WPA can't be cracked (unless its something easy, like dog)
