FX62 build, got it for 80 why not

Thread Starter
Well i replaced my X2 3800 with an FX62 i got for 80 bucks from a friend, lol he went Q6600 and said 80 for my chip, so when i rebuild this summer ill build around the FX62 instead of E6600 or Q6600 just because i now have this chip cheap, it hits 3ghz no issues and i think is a nice find, so here we go, i want yall to spend about 1500 for me a comp, i want a good case for air cooling, good psu, good video card Nvidia, Sli mobo AM2 support and 2gb DDR2. I will reuse HDD and DVD-Rom and i have a DVD-RW on order anyway. So can you get me board, vid, case, and psu for 1500 and make it good lets see

I'd advise you to have more descriptive titles unless it's like off-topic or something. forum rules.

2 x HD2900XT's in crossfire for sure, it's within the budget, but two GTX's wouldn't be!

Alright. How's about:

Total: $1517 .... $17 over but that will kick ass dude! Maybe the PSU could be upgraded for the crossfire, though. Something like this: Silverstone Decathlon 850W

True.. need more descriptive title.

I am still not convinced by the 2900's. For this budget, SLI-ed 8800GTS or a single 8800GTX are my choices.

My first take:
Total: $1,489.94

Alternatively, replace the SLI-ed 8800GTSs with a single 8800GTX:
EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card $559.99

That'll drop the total to $1,289.95

Did you think about an OS?

yep you did

However, with that much to spend, Core 2 Duo is still an option....

The rig with the single 8800GTX... with an E6600 and an Asus P5N32-E SLI will cost $1,495. Still the faster option, even with the FX at 3.0GHz.

I opted for quite a heavy PSU, and modular. Plenty power. You could save some money by going with the DA750 or OP750

With the Antec 900, I do recommend a modular PSU though
