Basically im in the process of rebuilding my comp went out today and bought a geforce 8800 i recently had a 8600 now i loaded up cs noticed a bit better frame rate but noticed that players that were far away were showing up as gray and there seemed to be more blooming. I was planning on getting another today to run sli along with getting the next to best Pentium processor and a Pentium supported mb.

I thinking bout getting

Well see the thing is I did the 3dmark06 test and it showed my comp ranking high above most systems but low vs other systems like mine i was around i think 6,000 points and others were around 10,000 im wondering maybe I should over clock the gfx card and processor? And if I was to do that whats a good guide that a newb would be able to learn from?

THanks.

If you're wanting a quad core I would wait till July 22nd when the Q6600 is suppose to price drop to $266 would save you some $$ if you can wait.As for a motherboard I would suggest since you're looking for 680i go Asus P5N32-E. I ordered mine thru ZipZoomFly and was a relabeled Striker Extreme plus save around $150 over the Gigabyte you choose

To be honest I dont know all that much about computers I figured the more expensive the better I talked to a guy at frys and he showed me there was a 999$ processor and then the next step down was only 500ish and it was only a few points slower so Ill be getting that one the one i linked in new egg I BELIEVE is the processor he showed me but not sure as for mother boards I have no clue lol it was the most expensive on newegg price really isnt a option I still have around 1700 to spend on just the Extra gfx card MB Processor, (i just baught the Nvidia 590 Sli mb but taking it back along with the processor so actually I have around 2,000 to spend so show me some good stuff people!

Why did you choose that board? it looks mighty expensive for 3 PCI-X and the only other plus I see being 4 RJ-45 gigabit lans. P5N32 has great reveiws and will serve you VERY well with overclocking aswell. Do you plan to use ALL 3 pci-x slots?

Get this instead. 500GB Seagate Barracuda, perpandicular. I hear there is a speed gain from perpandicular drives. only problem is this one is loud. If you want quiet, and your pc is already quiet, then stick with the WD and dont mind the little "extra" speed.

Well like I said I don't know much about comps I just picked some stuff from new egg lol what exactly is a PCI-x slot maybe you can link me to what your talking about so I can take it into frys? My case is the cooler master CMSTacker its huge and is VERY quiet right now it makes literally no sound so nothing should really make much noise and im not really careing much about that lol. As for over clocking like i said i really don't know how to do it but would like to expand my knowledge on such things. Im mainly building this comp for extreme frame rates and response times in games with graphics at maxed.

Also what gfx cards would you guys recommend 1 Gforce 8800 gtx or 2 gforce 8800 gts?

Btw Ive heard that overclocking mainly has to due with cooling so your **** doesnt fry would my case having umm lets see 4 fans on the side pannel 1 in front 1 in back 1 on the power supply and one in the wind tunnel provide sufficient cooling?

Me personally I would suggest 2 8800GTS which from my personal account (2 evga 320mb superclocked) outperform a single GTX unless maybe you plan on SLIing 2 GTXs

Well depends on if you're needing a new build right away or can wait a lil till Intel drops the price on the Q6600 in July. Yes you will see better scores in 3dMark06 with a quad over a standard core 2 duo around 2000points. But if you plan on overclocking it you would be better off with better cooling than air (watercooling/phase) as these get HOT. So what parts are you needing just a cpu and motherboard or ??
