Can't get DS3 to OC

Thread Starter
I've been reading through all the posts on overclocking the DS3 and I have a very similar system to all the ones ppl are talking about. My problem is I can't get mine to over clock anywhere nere what they have let alone much over stock settings. I got it to OC at 400fsb x8cpu x2mem 1.4vcore 2.1vmem at 5-5-5-15 for about two days but my water pump failed and I had to get a new one. I have not had any over temp problems with either pump but my system did take a major temp hit when the original pump failed. Now I can get mine to OC stable at 275fsb x9 cpu multi and x3 ram. Anything over that and my system won't post, won't boot into windows, or it will boot into windows and run for about 2min and reboot.

So far I have tried the following settings in my bios:

- 275-400fsb x9/8cpu x2-x3mem 1.325v-1.4vcore 1.8v-2.1vmem 100mhz pci-e mem 5-5-5-15/18 timings

Have a feeling I am missing something but I've tried everything minus
using a different vid card since all I have are two ASUS 7950GTs and an old FX5500 AGP card. My system hasn't shown any signs that the temp hit affected anything but it's possible that it maybe what is keeping me from OC'ing. Any pointers or additional things to check would be greatly aprreciated. My system info is listed in the sig block.

The bios version is F10 and I believe the board is a Rev 1.0. CPU-z shows it as Rev C2...not sure if that's correct.

I downloaded and updated my bios to F11. I can now get my system to OC at 350fsb x9cpu x2.5ram with 5-5-5-18. It runs Orthos stable for about 10-15min and my systems locks up. I lowered the fsb speed down to 325 and it runs stable. Are there any combinations I can try to get a higher clock? Do I have to OC my ram too. I have been trying to keep it between 798-875, is it ok to run my ram faster?

i would have to say YES, it is ok to run your RAM faster, considering you have good RAM...

what multi were you running when your fsb was at 325?

have you restored the bios to the way it was when you had the fsb at 400 and by this i mean, taken all the unneccesary stuff off?

2.5 i suspect he was using. maybe 2.66 (if i recall, thats one of the options on my s3 so i guess its the same for ds3) he might be able to do 325x3 but the ram will need to be pretty good and a bit loose perhaps.

on topic, 400FSB would be 3.6GHz which is a pretty solid OC on a 6600 and its where a lot of people stop or are forced to stop.

i reckon if you can get 350x9 you'll still be doing pretty well.

how much RAM do you have again? in your sig. it says 4gb of 2x1024MB, confusing - > you might want to try only having 2gb of RAM in when you OC... sometimes when you OC with all your RAM slots filled, it effects the OC potential... try it...

also, make sure you change your cpu:ram ratio to 1:1 for a better OC on your cpu...

let us know how it goes...
