Got my X1950 XTX on thursday...

So I bought this beuaty on eBay, from Canada, it took 1 and a half months to get here, so, I get home from school, ITS HERE! so I open the box... and... DISASTER! the XTX has cracks all over the casing, and I look down the air output, and the HEATSINK is Bent to the right... [cant take pics of the output because my camera blurs ]

I cant test the XTX, because my PSU is only 350w, and because it didnt come with a power cable... and I wouldnt test it if i had them anyways probably just because it would explode knowing my luck...

So I have contacted the seller, and found out it was insured for what I bought it for **PHEW**

they seller has contacted Canadian post, and should be getting a the 300$CA [£160- how much I payed for it] and will be refunding me as soon as he gets the money, which is usually 10 days...

two Pictures:

... So now all I have to do is wait... and then buy a NEW one ... lol

160 quids for it?!? that's bargain!! maybe you could buy some aftermath cooler for it and see if it still work? if work, u can do it in crossfire
post #4 of 21
That is a real bummer. If it's just the cooler that's damaged, you can buy an aftermarket one and it should work fine. It may even work like that lol.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It seems only the cooler is damaged, but you never know.

heh, thanks all,

I dont know if I get to keep the card [>.<] but I think I should, because I paid the seller, and hes not refunding my money + the insurance... so...

and I think I am going to try another cooler if I can keep it

In that first picture, the area you have circled I believe is actually normal. I at first thought it was broken too since it looks the same for my Sapphire X1950XT. However, I checked the pics on Newegg's site and sure enough that area is missing. I even checked my old X1800XT and it too was also missing that area. Both cards work fine so it shouldn't be an issue. I guess I just never noticed it before.

Anyways, if you can keep the card, that would be an awesome deal. I guess with the money saved you could put in an Accelero X2 or maybe even a Thermalright HR-03 on it. However, I'm not exactly sure if you are going to be able to change out the PSU since I heard that Dell uses proprietary components. Again, I'm not sure though, but look into that some more before putting money down and finding out later that it won't power your rig.

Best of luck!

As long as it's working at decent temps, you don't have to worry about it.

if its just the plastic sheath on the cooler, then it will still work ok.
