Install RIS image from CD?

I know that I can use a RIS server to create and distribute Windows image files for installation on a network, but is there a way to install the image from a CD? In other words, use RIS to create the image file, but instead of storing it on a RIS server and installing over the network, store the file on a CD and install from that.

umm, well the image is basically a virtual CD right?

well then why not just burn the image to a CD and you have your windows CD there...

you are just looping back and defeating the purpose of the whole technique of installing that over the network, right?

I would do that, however since the image was created via the RIS service, what would I need to do to get the computer to install from the image file? Normally, you would boot to the RIS server over a network connection and select the image file you wanted to install. How would I select the image file and start the install with out the RIS server?

what type of image file is it?

is it an ISO or NRG?

if so, then just whip out nero and burn the image to a disc....

Its a special format designed to be deployed from a RIS server. What I want to know is, what would I have to do (or if its even possible) to get it to load off the CD instead of the RIS server, since the image is created to be used with the RIS server and, I am assuming, requires the RIS server to initiate the install.

well if it is just an image file, and you have to load it by going into the browse option or by specifying a directory, then why not?

take a shot at it! what does a CD cost, fifteen cents?

Its more then that, you boot to the RIS server which loads a setup menu and displays all the images available, then you chose one and it starts the install. However, if I just have the image file on a CD, how would I start the install?

I dont want to spend large amounts of time and effort fiddling with this if its not going to work.
