Zombie Master HL2 Mod 1.1.0 Released

Thread Starter
This was on steam news, but for those of you that don't read it, check this link out

http://www.zombiemaster.org/

Basically, this is a mod that allows a team of players to go against a "zombie master". The team of the "living" is in first person mode, while one player (the ZM) is in RTS mode. The ZM's job is to spawn zombies and set traps to kill the living players. It's new, but really fun.

Expect more from this mod, its in beta but is fairly stable. This is a SERIOUS need for more servers, so if you have the bandwidth, help out the community.

For more information, check out the site. Its finally good to see a zombie mod out for download. Previously, I was disappointed with the likes of "No more room in Hell" and "Zombie Panic", which have little more than screenshots to speak of their multi-year development time...

EDIT: its free.

EDIT2: i saccidently put in the "img" tag, not "url"

It's a neat mod. It plays a LOT like Team DeathMatch. I prefer the ZombieMod for CS:S, although ZombieMaster has a goal in mind, either surviving or gathering pieces to repair a car.

Its in beta, so there aren't very many new textures.

However, the gameplay is very fun. The idea of having an intelligent enemy is just fantastic. As the zombie master you can give attack orders, or actually set "zombie traps" and keep enemies hidden until prey walk to certain locations.

Also, there are physical traps that the ZM can lay. This includes dropping crates on people, trap doors, and that sort of stuff.

The "docks" map is definitely the best out so far, but there are some other fun ones that require you just to survive.

The aforementioned map, Docks, makes you search the map for randomly strewn parts of a truck. Once they are all gathered, you just have to guard the truck for 3 minutes (which can be pretty hard, because the ZM knows RIGHT where to put all the zombies).

I decided to double-post to explain some of the pitfalls of the game, and things that you can expect to change in the coming months

1) textures: they are pretty much ALL HL2 textures. Its not BAD, persay, but it does take away from some of the ambiance.

2) netcode: wow, this really needs some work. Dont expect your nice 30ms pings in this game. I havn't actually been in a server with double-digit pings yet. This is especially a problem on maps with lots of physics calculations and LOTS of zombies. The server can really screech to a halt

3) Not enough servers: nuff said. We need more servers, they are all full most of the time.

4) New maps: since this is so new, its to be expected. Plan on playing Docks A LOT.
