e4300 Allendale or 3600+ Brisbane?

Hey. I have a dilema. I want to do an upgrade that will last me for a while(maybe even 2 years) and I'm not sure what to pick. I'm looking at e4300 and 3600+ here.

AMD:
BIOSTAR TFORCE 550 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 550 MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ - Retail
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane 1.9GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADO3600DDBOX - Retail

$233 + shipping.

Intel:
BIOSTAR TForceP965 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ - Retail
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E4300 - Retail

$306 + shipping.

I was told that its possible to hit 3Ghz on stock(can anyone verify?) with the e4300, now in order to get close to that with 3600+ I would definatelly need a cooler (extra $30+). This is where my dilema starts, If i bought the cooler the price would pretty much similar. What should I go with?

Save up a little longer, get some NKs instead, and an e6320 instead...

yeah thats a good setup, hitting 3.0 should be good to go (depending on chip),

you may still need a aftermarket cooler but still at 3.0ghz the 4300 will still rock the brisbane at the same clock speed if you can get it to 3.0ghz

i would get that 4300 setup you got going on there, it will do you pretty good

the Core 2's 3Ghz is more powerful than the AMD64's 3Ghz...i'd go with the C2D..i've also heard that the 550's have problems over 250Mhz fsb

Thats what I was thinking, even if I don't OC the 4300 to 3Ghz, it would still be tough for the 3600+ to come close performance wise. I gotta make the decision, sadly, but I think I will have to go with Intel.

nothing sad about it...

the amd 6000+ oc'ed has a tough time beating the 4300 oc'ed...so i doubt that the 3600+ stands a chance...Even at stock..

This isn't and should never be about being loyal...it's about "the best bang for your $" right now C2D is still that...what is there, a $35 difference between the two? best extra $35 you will ever spend

the only other thing i would look into is this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146558

i hear this some killer oc'ing RAM....667mhz to 1000mhz oc...that leaves a bunch of head room, for under $70..
