Overclock problem with e6400 and msi P965 and new ram

Hi, i actually have an MSI P965 and a core 2 duo e6400.

I changed my ram from my kingston 667 to my new gskill F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK 800Mhz DDR2

I have a problem iwht my bios, and i cant set the CL to 4 manual because it goes to 3 so i have actually this timings: 5-4-3-13 insted of the recommended 4-4-3-5.

The problem appears to be the mobo and the bios.

The other problem i have is that when i changed my memory, i had disabled all the C2D features, and overclocked to 300Mhz FSB, but actually i don't know why, the multipliers keep dropping to x6 insted of staying at x7.

I have everything disabled, C1E, speedstep, etc.

what could it be?

also, the cpu-z report that the ram is working at 448.6 mhz, is that good? the FSBRAM is at 2:3

should i make any changes for the system to go better??

thanks,

ariel

hey, first up i'm not too sure bout the MSI boards, but sounds like you may need to get a revised bios...

second, if you change your cpu:ram ration from 2:3 to 1:1, you could OC your fsb at a much better rate...

your ram running at 448.6mhz (DDR x 1) means it is actually running at 897.2mhz (DDR x2), which is a nice OC for ram, although with such good ram you should be able to go to about 950mhz, which means you could OC your cpu to about 475mhz x a multi of whatever..

the bios problem is very known by msi, but there isn't a solution yet.

by the way why the system is downloading the ratio to x6 instead of staying always at x7??

actually i have the system running at 32ºC idel, which fsb should i apply to my cpu to get 1:1 without ocing more the ram?

i dont know where to change the fsb ratio.

Thanks, Ariel

increase voltage like mch, vcore or ram cuz i used to have this problem when my comp would be unstable and it would reboot and actually underclock.

i solved the speedstep problem, i updated the bios to the latest one.

also the problem of the timings is the mainboard, so i will stay at 5-5-5-13 until msi repair the problem.

the other thing is that i am actually at 300Mhz FSB and 667mhz because in this mobo if i increase the FSB also the memory frequency increase, and i don't want to break the ram

so anybodoy know another solution??

Thanks,

Ariel

well u said ur at 300 so that means u can go to 333 and not even begin overclocoking ur ram so ur only at 600mhz which is nothing for ddr2 800 and this ram can easily hit ddr2 1000
