another E6600 OC?

Thread Starter
Ok just built a new computer the other day and started some over clocking. I would like to get to 3.0 GHz (333x9). The problem is I can't seem to get past 300x9 (2.71GHz) no matter what I do. Anything higher then that I get a Disk Boot Error. What could I try to get this up to 3.0GHz? I have a Biostart motherboard, 500 wat PSU and 2GBs of PC 5300 Kingston Ram.

This is the ram I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134046 and it seems to be ratted for 1.8v would it hurt to up that?

This is the motherboard I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138034

Hey, welcome to the forum.
Please fill our your computer's specs Here. The 2 links you have given does not work.

When you overclocked to 3.0Ghz, did you raise any vcore? Vcore = CPU voltage.

It sounds like you need to lock your Bus Frequencies. You need to lock PCI-E at 100, PCI at 33.3 and AGP if you have it at 66.6. You may or may not be able to do that with that motherboard, however, I know my dad had a Biostar mobo that he couldn't lock the frequencies with.

Its a Biostar 945P and 2GBs of kingston value ram PC5300. The motherboard suports 667 for the ram. I have tried changeing voltages. I have also locked the ram at 667. I don't see an area to change my pci-e voltages.

Options are

CPU Voltage
NB/SB voltage
FSB Termination Voltage
CPU clock

Then another secontion has ram options

DRAM Timing is selectable = [By SPD]

System memory Frequency is set to auto, options are 400,533,667

i am not familier with the 945 chipset but i would try setting the ram to 533 which should get it running 1:1, and set the timings to 5-5-5-15

other then that i really dont have any idea

I know extremely little about that board but I seemed to remember that it wasn't a great overclocker.

Search around some more about that chipset but you wont see many people using it around here. I'm betting that's what is holding you back unless I'm missing something here.

well i think even if it does suk that 333x9 should be attainable, try to set the vcore manually to 1.325 which is stock and may pull that oc for you, set the ram to 1.9 or 2.0 if you can, NB/sb im not sure on that one, raise it one above stock, and raise fsb one above stock and you should be good

what cooling do you have on your cpu

My ram is ratted for 1.8v. Is it ok to up that to 1.9 or 2.0?

I don't no, I don't think this board will go more then 300x9. No matter what I do I get the disk boot failure when I try anything faster. Even if I up the volts I get the same thing. So I'm running stock volts at 300x9 (2.71Ghz) I have run out of Ideas.
