How to Overclock eVGA 8600GTS - Page 2

The vf900CU is an amazing cooler and I would recommend it over the 700 any day. It's just amazing.

Also, use ATITool. It's the easiest way to overclock ever. It does it for you. (if it locks up you have to change the artifact detection method in the settings panel). After it has run error free for an hour on the core you should be fine to go on to the memory. (Just click auto clock or whatever it's called)

Good luck!

It works on most new NVidia cards, including the 8600 series.

I ran ATI tool 0.27 beta 1, I clicked the find max core thing, it got my an additional 60mhz before I clicked the abort thing, there were a thousand or so little lines flying all over my screen, even when I ended the program, images were flickering everywhere, so I restarted my computer, its fine now tho. Im guessing those little lines and flickers arent supposed to be there.

don't use find max clock

just increase it gradually and check for artifacts (those flickers are artifacts, not good)

So if I start to see artifacts then lower the clock speed till they dissappear? I dont want to put too much strain on the card, but I want it faster. I play WoW alot and with this card Im only getting around an average of 48 FPS, sometimes I drop to 30.

yeah if the artifact scan has the lines popping up means the card is past its prime display

Okay, just wanted to make sure they didnt mean my one day old card is busted.
