xbox 360 dead?

Thread Starter
Hello,
I got GH2 on the weekend played it last night and updated it before I went to sleep. I just got home from school turned it on and after 1 song it froze with like a white patten over the screen I then reset it and it happend on restart and now just flashed 3 red lights. I did a quick google seach and found that on xbox.com fourm theres over 500people who have had the same problem so it is def that. But the thing is my warretny has just run out (1 month ago). Microsoft still should cover this as it obviously was caused by the patch. My console has been sent in once before ages ago and I was having problems before so i rang up custemer support telling them it was freezing sometimes (unreleated to this problem) and should i get it checked out before the warrenty runs out. she replied no and that they will take it if something does happen (did not mention if it would cost anything)
what do you think? Would they charge me?

sounds like a GPU overheat and death to me... I suppose the patch may havecaused it but i'd say coincidence. I don't own a 360, so... even if you can't get them to cover it i think they're reparing tehm for 50 bux, alot cheaper than a new console. make sure you always have good airflow around the machine aswell. sry this happend mate.

if you can't get them to do "anything" about teh problem i call disection time

Try this http://thexboxdomain.net/2007/01/15/...ck-fixes-360s/

If that doesnt work then the flash probly screwed up the firmware.
Very nice!

that towl trick is cool(or rather hot, lol) I also wonder exactly how itt works. Obviously it has something to do w/ causing the components to warm up(literally).

Yeah, its supposed to re-melt the solder and restore the connections. I heard that it doesnt work for a lot of people. Some take it apart and take a heatgun to it to melt the solder too.
