Building My New PC... all compatable?

Hey all,

So I decided to build my next PC, which is coming around soon, I have £400 but do not need to SPEND ANY of it. My brothers friend knows someone who can place deiverys on this company, and get the items for FREE.

So I already have 3 HDD's, 1 Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160gb, 1 Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160gb, and 1 WD IDE 20gb, and a Graphics Card... [X300SE / X1950XTX (damaged atm)]

Someone I know helped me build this, but I did most of the finding he just checked if it would go...

Im planning to run 2/X1950XTX's or 1 HD2900XT on this rig, so I need to make sure its alright.

So here goes:
CASE: Coolermaster Stacker 830 BLACK - £150 Inc VAT [YES I know its espensive... it also looks sey, and has good reviews ]
MOBO: Intel BOXD975XBX2KR - £130.19 Inc VAT
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 - £131.45 Inc VAT
RAM: OCZ Dual Channel ATI CrossFire 2gb - £87.24 Inc VAT
PSU: Coolermaster RealPower Pro 850W PSU - 6x 12v Rails, 4x PCI-E Connectors. £149.97 Inc VAT

so... this all good?

Thanks for the quick replys...
Daniel

Its personal chopice as it's your money

This is my own personal view OK:

Drop the X-Fired XTXs - DX9 Cards and Waste of money to buy another one.
Forget the 2900, its immature and I would personally wait for the rv700 (ie the next set of cards they bring out (although I don't want to wait either )

Wait on the processor, they are going to drop by 50% in a month, you can get a q6600 for ~£150 then

the case, you have already decided you like the look of it, and have read the reviews so that's fine (but it is expensive)
The PSU, waiting for Chozart to show, will be good for the DX10 setup, with lots of headroom.

Ok in my mind, that's the wrong type of 'discount', so lets just stick to 'You are spending £400, ok?'

Ok... thanks for the advice, Ill wait for the price to come down on the CPU, but wouldnt quad core be like OMGROFLWAFFLE fast? [uber fast?]

And does it all fit together? I mean will the RAM work with the mobo etc?

and, I can get the stuff for free seriously, he got a 8800 GTS for Dan [my bros friend] for absolutly nothing (o.O)

Thanks for the quick reply,
Daniel

Yes, I agree with him. Wait for the processor and get a Quad Core when the prices have dropped.

Well I did say the PSU would have 'lots of headroom'

Yes the Q6600 will be 'omg***zorrofl' fast, until you look at the one they release on the same day as the price drop, I'll try to find a link to the table listing the chips and the current/next prices.

On the PSU, Corsair is getting my vote atm, or those industrial P+Cs which I know nothing about. I reckon a 700w PSU would be good for x-fire for 2 DX10 cards, but not too sure. I suppose you could look at it from the point of view of 'Running a large PSU at 50% is better than a small PSU at 90%' but in the modern global warming era, you may want to opt for efficiency rather than total output
