Does anyone know if it's only 3 races or perhaps more, as the FAQ only states that the 3 will be making a return but doesn't deny the possibility of a 4th. But I do remember someone mentioning explicitly that a 4th race would not be present. Can anyone find me a link?

Yup. But that doesn't mean they won't be in the campaigns (spe?)... surely they're part of SC2's plot..

I just heard it was suppose to have, maybe like two more. Like rouge terran, and a different kind of protoss. Thats what I heard, it might not be real.

Nope... the Protoss are pretty much united, what's left of them. As for humans, the UED won't be coming back any soon, so the only big dude left is Mengsk. Besides, even if there are several factions within a race, they won't make another team. They almost did that with the UED in Brood War though.

The scale factor and balancing of building really bummed me in warcraft 3. It looks like starcraft two is even more limited in space.

In so many of blizzard's games you could wall of a section of the map easily with houses or two towers because the scale of trees and free space is adjusted towards buildings, which are as people mentioned are smaller than many units.

Big units get pawned by being unable to move past a mob of smaller ones without a sort oif traffic jam on the map.

Speaking of battlezone, I think that if we can get the level of individual unit detail of an fps into a rts, that would be the best game ever. Too bad battlezone 2's graphics are dx7.

Oh and, if blizzard made an fps (other than that other project they dropped) that would be awesome too.

Really? I've never like historical RTS but if your correct I'll pick the latest one this arvo.

Homeworld was another RTS that made great use of correct scale as a gameplay mechanic. Not a 'traditional' RTS though.

Um... in Medieval 2, in battles, two armies (or more, don't remember how if there can be more than 2 teams) confront each other on a battlefield. You can set the scale to small/.../very large, depending on your hardware (i'm not sure, but i think you might be able to reach 3000 units).
The other mode is one team defending a village or city, with walls, the other trying to breach them and capture the city.
If the city has a barracks and an archery, you'll see them on scale, but you won't see anyone being trained there... in fact units stick to the road.
