"Overclocking" to its design speed?

Thread Starter
I have an AMD Athlon XP 2500 that is supposed to run at 1.8 GHz. I looked in my system propterties and it said my processor was 1.09 GHz. Do I have to overclock it to 1.8? If I did, would it be called overclocking? I play Battlefield 2, and I think this is probably why the game is so choppy when I play it.

well technically no...that's not overclocking...what might be happening is your board is running at the wrong bus speed.

BF2 is probably choppy because the rest of your computer is dated.. Quite honestly, even at 1.8 you're not exactly blazing fast...BF2 is a demanding game.

Go to usercp and fill out your system specs...we can help you a lot better that way.

It's socket A, no cool n quiet. Your bus speed should be 166 and multiplier should be 11 I believe.

Lol, just found this out, but you have one of the best overclocking boards for Socket A!!!

Look Here. at the top where it says 166. Change the next one from Auto to manual. Than change the multiplier to 11,then you will be at stock speeds.
Just FYI...BF2 is running crappy because you have a really old and not so good video card, low ram...and an old processor.

512mb more ram, a 6600GT or greater, and a solid overclock on your CPU should put you in the running...
