Bad Thermal Paste?

Thread Starter
i went to a hardware store to pick up a cheap pair of headphones the other day and since i was in need of some thermal paste i asked the owner if he had any. He replied by suggesting this stuff

http://www.startech.com/Product/Item...LVGREASE1&c=US

which he said was just as good. So i get home that same day and rub off the thermal paste that came with the aftermarket CPU cooler which kept my temp at 35C idle. Once i put this stuff on though my temps havent gone any lower than 45C. I've done 3 applications now and let it cure for 8 hours all 3 times under a load and my temps were reaching 60C at times! Can anyone tell me how crappy this stuff really is?

Not. Any paste, done correctly, should be the same. I can get crappy ceramic to the same temps as AS5, you just have to know how to apply it. How much are you putting on there? Picture would be PERFECT.
