Vista Performance

post #1 of 6
Thread Starter
I finally was able to get a hands on Vista Ultimate Edition. It looks nice, it really does, with all those features that you rarely will ever use after the first install.. -_-;;

What I'm wondering is what do I need to disable or enable to get the best performance out of Vista, as a C2D E6600 @3.5GHz and 2GB RAM still lags a little bit while running Vista (I had no lag on Windows XP Pro). I already disabled that UAC or whatever it was called, because that thing was just ANNOYING! Anyway, help me out guys, because I hate lag, and Vista looks nice, and it would just be nice to run Vista without the lag. ^^

Just wait a while and let it finish indexing the drives. Within a few days, all the lag will be gone.

LAG? i have vista x64 on core 2 E6600 on stock speed, and 2 gb of ram and i have no lag.....

i tried 4 gigs of ram but it didn't work for me, probably because the memory was a different model. one was vista certified and one wasn't but anyways. u shouldn't really feel any lag.

Alright nice, thought the lag would stay forever..

Oh and, is there anything else besides UAC to make Vista more efficient? And could I possibly do something about Vista using 1.06GB of Physical RAM?

One more thing, when I press "Ctrl + Alt + Del" is there a possible way for it to just show the Task Manager without it going to that menu where it gives you the option to "Lock Computer, Switch User, Log off, and Show Task Manager"? I need to be able to go to my task manager right away when I need to do something like benchmark my specs or something. Thanks.

HERE is it i Found it.

if all you do is play games and you want vista to run as fast as it can, just use the minimal, but i would use tweaked, because minimal disables somethings that are user friendly, and annoyint to start up when you need it.
