Intel CPU Performance Comparison @ Stock

Thread Starter
Stock ... yes something that maybe a bit foreign but I am looking for some comparison charts or information that shows current / next generation CPUs with older generation.

As we all know, the rated CPU Speed does not always mean a faster system for any giving application and it is often difficult to know what would be better to use.

So how do these baseline CPUs compare not only to each other but also with the likes of these new CPUs?

Baseline CPUs would be:

Celeron D 331 2.66 GHz
Pentium D 820 2.8 GHz
Xeon 800FSB 2.8 GHz
Xeon 800FSB 3.2 GHz x2

Some other comparison CPUs would be the likes of:

Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5140 (2.33 GHz, 1333 FSB) .. etc
AMD Opteron 2218 2.6 GHz .. etc

The OS is Windows 2K3 with the Applications are primarliy Video / Voice streaming (Bi-directional) with MS IIS and MS SQL engines (sorry Linux is not an option ... yet) and DVD Archiving, some apps are multi-threaded, some are not.

Here are some links discovered links but I am sure there are much better ones available that you know of....

This table has a 'relative performance index'
http://images.tomshardware.com/2006/...ay-pricing.jpg

A pentium 4 520 is taken as the base and the performance of other CPUs is taken as an index... thus, an E6700 is a little over 2 times as fast...

Some Dell info:
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/t...=19&l=en&s=dhs
3DMark06 CPU scores and SYSMark 2004SE scores. Intel Celeron 336 is the base, and others are expressed as a percentage

Yet another table:
http://www.systemshootouts.org/processors.html
Values are expressed in some relative pentium 4 speed. Thus, a 1.6 = pentium 4 1.6GHz, while a 5.0 would be a theoretical pentium 4 5.0GHz.
