Samsung 226BW: Anyone using MagicTune? - Page 6

BTW I had problems getting MagicTune to run on my old laptop, which had an ATI X1400 graphics card - the old "system does not support" message I think. I updated the drivers to the latest version and MagicTune worked fine after that.

I've found I can open Magictune, go into Colours > Calibration, click Multi-user in the top left and select my colour profile again, but it's a bit of a faff. I've tried fiddling manually with gamma levels in the nvidia application but can't get the colours looking right, so calibration seems the only option.

Is there any way to stop it forgetting the colour profile? Thanks for any ideas.
I get the *exact* same problem about the MagicTune calibration settings being "forgotten" ... same exact thing. I've just learned to live with it since I don't game too much.

Thanks for the word, though ...

(also, after gaming, try going back in to MagicTune and "reloading" a saved calibration profile)

Best

As far as I can tell ... MagicTune seems to be functional on most OS's and Vid Cards that are somewhat long standing/standard.

Meaning, of course, that Windows 7 and newer graphic cards might have some troubles with it. But I think that Samsung's software guys update the warez as much as they can and as new vid cardz/drivers are released.

And just saying, I don't think the specific monitor/lcd screen is important ... more likely, in regards to compatability? I think the vid card is the main thing.

Myself? I run Win XP with a NVIDIA 8800GT ... sort of old school, really ... and MagicTune works flawlessly with this set up.

Watch the MagicTune download site for new versions; they seem to release new versions fairly frequently.

Best of luck.

This thread interests me as I just took delivery of a Samsung XL2370 and the installation disk is warped so can't use it, have asked for another but don't hold too much hope as Samsung online rep had trouble understanding plain English. I got the driver from Samsung's website but the supposed Vista/Win 7 x64 download from the link in the first post installs OK but it wont run. Magictune must close is the pop-up.
Note that the XL2370 is a pretty new monitor and I'm using with an nVidia GTX295 graphics card.

I need Magictune and Multiscreen.

Only other stuff on there is the User Manual and driver which I downloaded already.

Any ideas folks?

Edit: I managed to straighten the CD out by using a not-too-hot iron on the CD sandwiched between several sheets of paper. The software installs OK but nothing happens when you try to run it. From Samsung's Magictune page it isn't compatible with this nVidia GTX295

Just thought I'd register and bump this thread because it stopped me taking a large hammer to the BX2450 that arrived today.

I was struggling to get to grips with the calibration due to the crap documentation and the monitor is awful out of the box.

Read this thread and re-calibrated and then tweaked MagicTune a bit and it now looks perfect.

Thanks again

Glad it helped. I did this thread ages ago but I still use MagicTune religiously to calibrate my newer Samsung LCD's. Makes a GIANT different in contrast and especially alleviating the horrid stock "washed out" greys on LCDs.

Cheers.

I am having the problem discussed earlier where magictune doesn't load the calibrated profile at startup even if the box is checked to "enable task tray icon". Is there any resolution for this?
