windsor or brisbane?

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
Everyone says get the 3600+. Which one? Tell me from experience if possible.

Also, I'm getting the EVGA 590 SLI board, that should be able to get me to 275 MHz FSB or so, correct?

I was originally going to get the 4800+ brisbane, but I figured I'd try to save $30-50 and go cheap.

Brisbane.

Not from experience, but it's the newer technology and overclocks better.

275MHz on that board should be a breeze....

I would think more in the range of 325MHz with the 3600+ (3.09GHz CPU clock)

Brisbane = 65nm
Windsor = 90nm

Get the Brisbane. Overclocks better and runs cooler.
Very nice!

lol depends actully, both top out at 3ghz without extreme cooling, the best chip is the x2 3600 but you have a better chance of getting 3ghz with a higher multi so you dont need super high FSB.

Brisbane Windsor has half of the L2 cache, older manufacturing process, higher TDP, and higher cost. You may start out with a slightly higher multi, but you'll reach your wall well before that of the Brisbane. Go with the Brisbane.

57238948 times.

For the record I most often do search before asking, but for once I figured I would be greedy and get a topic all myself.
