How are these temps for a TT120? - Page 2

I dunno about idle temps, but load temps are affected by room temp. See this thread. If case air flow is optimized, another major source of heat is an inefficient cooling setup due to poor contact between the HS and IHS of the CPU. Most C2D chips have problems with the flatness of their IHS's from the factory. My Q6600 was pretty bad... why not lap the CPU's IHS? That will give you a much larger decrease. Here's my result lapping my q6600 7-10 °C drop (7 on the coolest and 10 on the warmest core).

well...i just spent a good hour lapping both the tuniq and the ihs...started with 400, 600, 600, 800, 1000, 2000...they both had a mirror finish and passed the graph paper test...temps are initially about 3C lower...we'll see how they are after the "burn in"...

Are you use you have the HS centered over the cores? It's actually possible w/ the u-120 x on my p5b-del to have it off-center before you bolt it down. I have seen a notable difference in temps if not centered.

this makes no sense...temps are now exactly the same...even after the "cure"...i can open the case window and prop a 12" fan there...the airflow isn't being impeded by the case at ALL...i know for a fact i haven't used too much as5...i've tried at least a dozen different remountings and all the techniques...i'm not bumping it when i mount it...it's squarely mounted over the cpu...i've checked...the as5 is spread perfectly...the tt120 is clamped down nice and tight...could i have a bad chip? is there a way to see if i have a bad chip? i am oc'd to 3.2ghz...but it still seems high...like i should be 8-10C lower...especially with 24-27 ambient...

those where about what mine ran on the stock IHS now with the tuniq I'm running 1.55v and idle we are about the same but full load temps yours are still higher.

something isn't right. and I can't tell by the pics but do you have the fan in there on the IHS? almost looks like you don't. other then that i would double check the mounting even though it sounds like you already have. just know it was a bad time getting mine in

yeah, it sucked getting it in...took 2 people carefully doing it...the removable mobo tray is worthless with this huge bastard...and the fan is most definitely in the the IHS...it's blowing at it's max according to the bios...and i have another 120mm fan blowing on it...which only helped temps

**** it, i think i'm going to get a torture rack soon to use as my case anyways...i've got to be bumping the tuniq or something...

could i have a "bad chip"? it's completely stable, up to 3.6ghz with my meager oc'ing skills...

Hey I have a similiar case and the airflow isnt that great. I was idling around 35-40C and load at 55-65C with 24C ambient

I reseat the HSF and everything still no luck, they I took off 2 of the front 5.25 plate and put an 80mm intake fan just temporarily untill i get the 120mm fan (Scythe Kama Bay)

My temp went from that to 28-30C idle and 50C load.

Keep in mind my E6600 is OCd to 3.4ghz @ v1.55
