sli bridge needed or not??

Thread Starter
I was told that the sli bridge is no longer needed when using 93.71 and up nvidia drivers, this info. came from asus tech support. I took out the bridge and no pop up. Device mgr. shows both vid. cards. I was having boot problems, would not boot with the bridge installed unless I reinstalled vid drivers without the bridge, then reinstall the bridge then it would boot and run great untill the next day then same thing.
Anyone know about this or had this problem??

i always use the bridge, never had any boot problems? that's weird. when you play games does it still run like you got SLI enabled? because as i remember that bridge is what transfers data between the cards. at least that's what the manual on my old P5N32 SLI said
post #5 of 17
without the bridge did nvidia control pop up saying sli detected?

basically yeh you can run without a sli bridge connector, however the bridge is there two redice bandwith constraints when communicating with both cards.

So if i were you i would put it in, i mean come on its a tiny little pcb why not put it on ?

If you didnt need one why would they supply it

The bridge is only really needed when the cards take alot of bandwidth. Anyone can run sli without a bridge, it just wont preform as well compared to useing a bridge. I say just use a bridge to get the most of your SLI.

I connot get it to boot with the bridge, it goes into a loop and restarts just before the welcome screen
