Having problems with new mb and CPU

Thread Starter
well i went and bought the evga 680i a1 version mb and a e6600

it ran great when i first got it now i am having problems even at stock settings it now freezes up reboots and sometimes refuses to go into bios to where i have to let it sit turned off for 10+ minutes before it will even boot

does it sound like i need to rma my mb or my cpu or both?

its crazy because when i first put it together i was able to get a 9987 in 3dmark06 @3.3ghz and now im lucky to even stay stable enough for it to make it thru the test and if i do iget a 9400-9600 in 3dmark06 even in stock form

what do you think the problem is?

thanks for the help

This sounds like either a motherboard or RAM issue. Its possible the RAM simply isn't getting enough vCore or you have the timeings set too tight. My first port of call would be booting from a floppy and running memtest86+ to ensure that the RAM is functioning correctly. Either way, I'm pretty sure your CPU is fine if you are able to boot or POST at all.

I agree... I am almost sure it is the RAM. Default is 1.85v while your memory needs 2.0-2.3v stock.
Once again...
