I'll keep it simple:
$1000 Budget

Uses:
-Gaming (CS:Source, UT2004, FEAR, etc.),
-Photoshop
-Music, Internet, etc.

Want:
-Upgradable for the future
-Around 500GB (I have a WD 160GB currently, incorporate if you can)
-I want my C:\\ to be fast
-2GB of Fast ram
-Good benchmark results!

Thanks guys! I appreciate any input!

Lol $1000 will take care of those games like nothing else.

Best ram, really cheap right now: G.Skill HZ 800mhz 2x1gb RAM
Fast and reliable hard drives, great for raid0 but i do not believe that is within you budget, unless you really want raid0: Seagate Barracuda Perpendicular Recording 7200.10, size of your choice
Good value dx10 card: EVGA 8800 GTS 320mb, not sure if the mid range r600 cards are better for the price...
I'll leave the rest to Chozart lol, or someone else.

I haven't been keeping up with motherboards since the new ones came out, ASUS p5k i think.

Too much

actually not THAT much now, i bought my ram when it was overpriced like crack, and i bought my case right before it had a like $50 rebate.

I would think the Gigabyte DS3 would fit nicely for your budget, moderate overclocking abilities, and a reputable manufacturer.
I'm not sure if it is compatible with the next gen intel CPUs though. I think they are using a higher FSB, but i can't remember!

And your obviously getting a c2d :]

core 2 duo lol

e6320 would be agood choice, fits in your budget, leaves room for a great GPU.
And easily overclockable with stock cooling.
I'll do a fancy write up for you later, i'm in the mid of a supreme commander game lol.
Unless someone else beats me to it.

I wasn't going to give you CPU cooling, but i saw this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103026
It's only $40.12 shipped, if i remember correctly this is a good cooler, and it seems really cheap. You can buy two el cheopo 120mm fans and stick em on there, then you have some good cooling.
But if your not overclocking don't even bother.
EVen a moderate overclock doesn't need aftermarket cooling.
I was also thinking Big Typhoon cooler, or the zalman, but it all depends on your overclocks.

The ram is the same ram i have, i don't think you will be doing any extreme overclocking so the PK g.skills will do you fine, they will run at 800 mhz, and just a tad above, perfectly.

And with two of those Barracudas you will have 500gb storage in raid0 that will be really fast.

Add in windows of your choice and your good to go.

*edit* anyone else got any ideas on a better / cheaper PSU?

The rev3.3 boards support 1333MHz FSB. I have one, its great so far. Newegg sells two versions, one is clearly marked as rev1.3, the other is unmarked (and costs a little more), the latter is going to be a rev3.3.

Personally, I'd try to go for an Asus P5N-E for your budget It's 650i and overclocks more consistently than the DS3.
