Asus P5b And P4d 820 Overclock Problem!!!!!

Thread Starter
Hi Fellas,
I am having serious problems with oc. The system is as follows;
MOBO: Asus P5B
CPU: P4D 820 2.8Ghz
RAM: 1x1GB KINGSTON 800Mhz
Cooling: CoolerMAster Hyperx48

When I try to set the fsb over 220 the system crashes. I have set the PCI and PCI-E slots to 100Mhz and 33.3 Mhz. but theres nothing else that comes to my mind here. I have made the OC before with P4 3.0 up to 5Ghz without problem but with these materials there is something wrong Im doin. Please help. What are the best configurations to set the CPU to 3.6Ghz???
There are no generic configuration settings to get to 3.6GHz. You must tweak it on your own. Is it possible that your system crashes because the CPU isn't getting enough voltage?

What shall I give as voltage?

You should increase it one unit (whatever your motherboard might have) and see if it runs a little more stable. If not, keep doing so until it is stable, but don't go too high (i.e. if you hit 1.5v you are way too high and the voltage is not the problem)

Have you locked PCI-e to 100mhz, and PCI to 33.33mhz? Disabled C1E support?

Please fill out your system specs so we can help you better. Could be that your PSU is not stable enough to OC that 820. Perhaps it is heat. Maybe your memory. There are quite a few variables in the equation....so help us help you by eliminating a few!

Ok Here are the system specs.
CPU: P4 820 @2.8
Ram: 1x 1GB @667 Mhz
MOBO: Asus P5B
PSU: 400Watt KAMA thats a good one
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master HyperX has a very big fan
Graphics Adapter: Ati Radeon x300
On the board there is only one ethernet card is installed
The PCI and PCI-E slots are locked at 100mhz and 33.3 mhz
The interesting point is when I run the CPU at stock value @2.8 the temp is 56 degrees but when it runs at 3.0 the temo is 48 degrees and when at 3.2 temp is 44 degrees.. This is very interesting. The values are read by speed fan- pc wizard and asus program.
However when I try to boot the pc above 3.2 the windows wont boot itself. What is the problem my friends?

Lower the memory speed if you haven't already done that. Also it might need more vcore, but I know nothing about P4's overclockability
