AAAAAAARGH Vista help required please.....

Thread Starter
I am trying to lauch a piece of SW in Cista running in compatibility mode--I have UAC turned off--I right click it to run as Admin...still a lil pop up window informs me that I must log in as Administrator and run the program once to avoid seeing this message again.

Please GOD please tell me someonehow to make this piece of SW launch.

It is the Abit uGuru utility called Abit EQ that I need to controll all the OTES fans on my mobo..it is driving me mad.

I have tried settingpermssions and editting the various related features that are available when the properties box is open for the shortcut.

How do I make this work?

Thanks in advance to the Vista gurus out there...

Turn UAC off and restart f8 advanced so you can enter in driver signing off.

That might work, if the driver wasn't digitally signed (of which, for me, doesn't always work each time I do it lots of restarts trying to get that thing off)

Also, try putting it on the DEP 'ignore' list. That creates a lot of problems for me with my games, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's causing other things problems also.

Also if you run as admin shortcut it won't work. Admin running is not required with UAC but when installing drivers you must turn off driver signing unless they are like signed by M$

Thank you guys for responding.

The prob remains. I have tried all of the above except F8 drver signing. But I do not believe the uGuru Utility (whichmonitors fan speeds/temps/voltages) is a driver...but I could be mistaken.

What happens is a little window pops up that has MSG in the left corner and sez: To avoid seeing this message again please log in as administrtor and run this program one time. tried right clicknig and changing the properties of the shortcut and the exe but nothing. It only does this when I want to run Abit EQ or OC Guru...every other exe works fine.

Which is great. There is no Admin log on in the Vista log in....ctrl alt del twice doe not open a box--and even if it did--when I installed it did not ask me for an Admin password...

So is there a way to log in as Admin? What's the deal?

Another related question and this is really an annoyance...

Is there some way to turn off the allow/disallow pop up? It is completely retarded. If i see it too many more times I am gonna go buy a Mac and beat myself to death with it...

I disabled it through MSCONFIG, and I also changed the Registry value to zero, this should stop it from saying "Need admin permission" and from having the allow or disallow pop up.

Windows+R>MSCONFIG>Tools Tab> Disable UAC>Hit Launch> "Done"

Now to the registry>Windows+R>Regedit>

Now follow the tabs down, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\ CurrentVersion\\Policies\\System

When you are on the system folder, on the right side you see EnableUA. Right click it, Modify, change the value to 0. When all done reboot, and you should be all good.

When you log in to your system, do you use a password. On my wifes Vista box, I changed it so she had to type a password in order to log in. This cleared up a number of Admin related issues. Her account was set as administrator, but because she did not actually use a password to log in, I think vista may have not given the rights I expected it to give.

Here is someone that had the same problem and got it working with the version that was on the disk rather than the one that was downloaded.
