Overclocked it'd do alright for a while. However, it's a real bugger of a decision. I'd personally go for the 8800 FIRST and wait on the C2D with your current, there's a price drop coming at the end of July. Do you have CPU related FPS issues now? If not, don't bother upgrading til it suits you.

Thats a good idea.. but then I dunno how I'm going to do this :S
The price drop only drops the 4300 by like 20$ :S So I'm not sure how beneficial waiting for that would be. I have no idea if I have CPU related FPS problems, the only game that I run with a fps monitor on is CSS, and for some reason that game shows 30-40 FPS which I think is too low for my specs, but thats another story. But in order to play game comfortably I do need to turn down the effects, which might be remedied by a nice 8800GTS sitting in my system. My CPU will definately be a bottleneck in my system next though, and it may be now. :S

EDIT: Actually I dont think I could justify spending the 400+ CAD on a Graphics card by itself... and just out of interest my monitor is doing 75Hz @ 1280

Which effects do you turn down? Some are CPU heavy. Most aren't.

Those FPS are kinda low for that setup. Though I doubt it's because of your CPU. Overclock your current CPU several hundred MHz and tell me if your FPS go up significantly. If they do, you're currently CPU bottlenecked.

Awesome, that really bolsters one point that I felt was a weak point in my article that I couldn't hope to gather enough hardware to prove on my own.

I don't have time to real the whole post right now, it seems like a great read, will read it tonight. Only thing I can say, is that the bottleneck does exist when you combine a Pentium 4HT with a 8800GTX!
Again, F.E.A.R allowed me to test it:
Highest FPS / Pentium 4: 80 +/-10% FPS
Highest FPS /Core 2 Duo: 255FPS

Did you happen to read the rest yet emmanuel? You'll understand why the P4 gives you the same performance in that case as the conroe.
