I'd go for the Fuzion over a GT also...I run my 2 18W DDC in series one right after the other....The 480 GTX rad is nice with 70+ cfm fans on it...

Alright thanx for the useful links. I think i am gonna go with "DDC" type of pumps, but not Petra's top. I just found out about Petrastechshop.com yesterday and I am not impressed. I all i see is that they lowerd the pressure and got higher flow, is there something i have overlooked.
AFAIK I only need flow of something above 1 gal/min, as long as i am above that i am good.

See there is no real performance gain above 1gal/min it's almost a strait line.

So now I am thinking of getting 2x APOGEE GTs with 2x Swiftech MCP355 pumps.

I still have one unanswered qestion.

This shows that to increace flow it's better to have Pumps riged up in Series.
What if I want to increace the pressure, would perallel work better then.

Check this out...


look at Laing D5 Drop in the loop2, because that pump has lower head.
I wounder if pumps in perallel setup would out perform pumps in Series set up in the loop2.
Just because Parallel setup lost to Series setup in Loop1 doesn't mean it will lose in loop2 "real world" setup.

Hook them up and see..They used to say series would double the head and parrelel would double the flow but keep the same head...If you look at the block flow charts they are using 3/8" barbs...The Petra tops allow you to use larger barbs...I'd say flow up to 2.5-3 gpm is good...I only dropped 2.5C at load by adding a second pump but I still dropped..Thats in a CPU only loop I'm sure if I had a GPU or two it would of been more....I added a second pump for redundancy....One thing that doesn't show up in the temp is the fact that higher flow will cool the microscopic hot spots on a chip allowing for a higher OC even though the temp wasn't brought down much....

You would think that having the pumps back to back wouldn't do much because the pump sucking in water from the other pump would still output with the same pressure/flow. You get what I'm saying, right?

Series = back to back?
Parallel = In the same loop?

Yup you would think that in a series wouldent change anything, but by fluid dynamics and pressure and all that math, it does give you more head.

As for Parallel, are you asking how it can be in the same loop? simple do it like this.... res->Y splitter->the 2 pumps->then reconnect another Y splitter to make 2 pumps flowing into a single tube....get it now?
Thats sure to increase your flow!

Yeah but when you actually put them in a loop the series outflows the parallel weird huh... ...Thats why a lot of theory is just that ...You have to have real world testing to validate theory...
Actually hooking 2 pumps up like that with Y's could give you back flow problems with-out using check valves..

ooo all this talk about theories got me excited about getting my first water cooling. So i geuss I am gonna have to test both ways and see what works better for me.
P.S. Does anyone know where I can get a Flow-o-meter?
