Hi.

I am considering doing my upgrade early this year. Here is what I have in mind:

QX6700
Asus Striker Extreme
Corsair Dominator (2 x 1GB)
SLI G80 GTX
Vista

Please make comments and give advice.

Thanks for your time.

Forget the ram, you already have good sticks imo. And get a Q6600 rather than a QX6700

Agreed. the only thing you really need to upgrade is the motherboard, and get a Q6600. Benches here shows NO SIGNIFICANT difference in the quad core performance. THe FSB wont go high enough to request higher clocks from the ram with the Quad's high multi.

Anyways, what're you gonna do with that E6400 . i've been thinking of upgrading my bro from a Pentium III to a dual core....

Also, can ya wait till july till the Q6600 hits 266$ US?

all i have to say is that youll love it!

*EDIT* the qx 6700 and g80 gtx sli is unecessary right now, as i figured out. but i have a feeling it will pay you back in spades down the road.

your sli g80 gtx will be bottlenecked even by a qx6700, so beware

Looks good except for the memory. Buy 2 more GB of the same Patriot stuff and have 4GB for Vista.

Thanks for the information and the links , I will take a gander shortly. As for the Allendale...it is slated for a LAN box. If I change my mind I will remember your interest.

hmmm... perhaps some careful consideration is in order...I detest the "B-word".

Thanks for pointing that out.

Indeed! Thanks for letting me know that Vista is such resource hog...

What if this was a dual-boot with XP and Vista? Would the XP OS be noticeably hampered by the 4GB of RAM? How would this effect the memory controller - if at all?

Thanks for the replies guys.

It will only be b*********** (heh ) if you don't OC at all, at stock it is, but OC'd it is not.

And you should get the P5N32-E SLI instead of the Striker.

32 bit XP and Vista only support 3GB of memory. However, check this out:

Ah... thanks. Overclocking is imminent, so that will balance the equation somewhat?

What about the X6800? Any opinions (anyone and everybody)?

What are your selling points for the P532-E SLI ?

Danke
