Results of undervolting

Thread Starter
I just undervolted my E6600, before the voltage was in the 1.3 range according to BIOS (on auto settings), I set it to 1.25v, and actual is 1.20 - 1.21 or so (dunno why there's that big of a difference) according to the tool in my BIOS.

Idle temps haven't changed, since they were very close to ambient.

But right now:

Ambient is approximately 22c

Before undervolting: under orthos load, after a few minutes the temperatures would be in the mid 50s

After undervolting: under orthos load, after 8 minutes the temperatures are 44/45, for cores 0 and 1, respectively.

Everything seems stable too, so all the extra voltage was doing was generating heat for no reason.

thats awesome, I too undervolted my e6600 at around 1.25 and I too dropped my temps around 3-5C!!!!

At 2.4Ghz I can set mine as low as 1.1 volt to run it stable.

Im running my 6300 @ 1.2vcore at 3Ghz. And it stable. I really want an 6600 though, for the multi.

you know, I wonder if it's possible to mess with the chip to reverse what they did w/ the laser cut on the chip to lock out certain multis.

Probably not since the circuits are so tiny now, but who knows (of course, if you mess up you're not getting covered by warranty ; )

When I get my e6320 I will try undervolting the D see how cold I can get a 90nm dual P4 to get. haha.

He was talking about his pentium D. Which is 90nm.

Ahhh, ok.

Well, if you underclock it too, you can probably get the voltage really low

(lol, I can see a new top 10 list, top 10 coolest running processors on air or something )
