Driver Problem?

Thread Starter
Ive been using the 84.56 drivers for my 7900GT OC. I have my card over clocked a tiny bit extra to stop the card from randomly freaking out my monitor with crazy colors during game play ( core clock 515, mem clock 755 / default was 505/750 ). Lately when I've been playing either FEAR or CS:S my comp will freeze up and my speakers will make a repetitive broken record type of crackle noise. ( a written example of the noise its like " click.. click.. click.. click.. " if that makes ANY sense what so ever ). This only happens during those 2 games, my comp runs CS 1.6 forever.

My 2 questions are could this be a driver problem? and if so which drivers should I update to? OR could this be a memory problem being that I just added 2 gigs of ram and if so how long does the memtest take to go through 3 gigs of ram?

it could be that you are running 4 sticks of ram amds dont like anything more than 2n sticks as it stress the on die memory controller try just using the 2 1GB sticks and see if you have the same problem

Good suggestion i would also try to check and make sure your not overheating at all. (Are your fans or watercooling) working normaly. Check your overall CPU and GPU core temps with motherboard monitor5.

Another thing i noticed is you playing FEAR. My friend has the same graphics card as you and he had a similar problem with his computer and it ended up being that he had 1 bad stick of memory.

All my temps are fine.. I'm gonna take one stick out at a time and see how that works. I also just updated to 94.24.

Its always good to be up to date with all your drivers. Good choice. Hope removing 1 stick at a time works for you.

Also are you running all the same Ram Sticks? or are they mixed from different company's?

Also are they overclocked at all? your timing may be off or to overclocked.
