My talk w/ Intel about TAT - Page 9

well my speedfan load temps are 15c below coretemp, but the idle is waaay too low to be correct. 27 idle on stock when my room is 25c? i dont think so

Ok...Don't give up on me yet...lol

There has to be another factor to this that i am missing...at this point idk what that is...but here is a list of my results with multiple software..

I read my water temps by placing a sensor from my Gatewatch in between the water block and the cpu holding bracket (slightly in contact with the IHS)....My temp at that location was 10C idle double checked with a digital thermometer... So my block at cpu contact point is 10C...

AT IDLE

Water Block 10C

TAT readings 30C
CoreTemp 28C
Everest 18C (Core0 Core1)
Speedfan 11C (Core0 Core1)
EasyTune5 11C

I did NOT expect this....thought i had 0c water...

If i have cooling temps of 10C then Speedfan, EasyTune5 are probably INCORRECT...Is it really possible to a cpu idle at 1C over the water temp? doubtful...IDK what they are reading...something close to the T_case or on the mobo..

Everest in my mind seems to be the closer to what i thought my temps should be with 10C water..If CoreTemp and TAT are correct then that is an 18C - 20C difference from the water block...Sounds like a lot to me...The differences don't change but 1C-2C while under load..that could just be logging intervals creating those differences....

Give your thoughts on this, or run Everest and lets compare ...

edit: i also wanted to say that the Waterblock temps @ load remained 8C-9C lower than Everest...

I usually don't do back to back posts, but i would like to get some feed back on Everest compared to TAT and SpeedFan..

After running for a while (gaming, net stuff, benchmarks) I found that Everest was always 15C lower than TAT...At the same time SpeedFan was 18C-20C lower than TAT...

I also found that the sensor from my Gateway was reading the same as Speedfan..So i think Speedfan maybe using a sensor on the mobo at the cpu socket..at least in my case i think it is...

Could some of you run those three programs and give their results? I really can't be sure until I see results from those of you on AIR cooling...

I noticed that Everest updates a little faster than TAT, so you may see Everest make quick drops in temps, but return to a steady temp..

On a side note. I am thrilled with Everest...I have used it before, but never really looked into its features...Its OSD features easy to change and simple to read...

This is my temps, the green temps at the top left are from Everest

Then you are running a T_junction of 85C....that is why all your temps are correct..us T_junction of 100C get different reading then you do..

This is nuts. Because that means my temps are about 45c on load on a Quad Core. My tJunct is 100 in CoreTEmp.

Holy crap.

Ok..

I followed a link left by graysky http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1192840

In this link you can read on how to find your DTS reading...And the formula i have mentioned before, Temp = T_junction - DTS...

I used CrystalCPUID to find my DTS... I checked my DTS under TAT load and it was 50... 100C (t_junction) - 50 (DTS) = 50C load...

These are my temps for all software running at the same time i checked the DTS..

TAT 60C (TAT LOAD)
SpeedFan 45C
EasyTune 45C
CoreTemp 59C
Everest 50C

If this DTS info and formula are correct, then Everest is the only program reading correct for me...

Anyone wanna try it out and post results?? plz

Some of my current temps:

These are the measured coretemps:
TAT: 37c
Speedfan: 35c (cpu temp 40c)
Coretemp: 35c
Everest can't read my cpu temp, at least not the Home Edition 2.2.

Everest 50C

If this DTS info and formula are correct, then Everest is the only program reading correct for me...

Sometime you just have to admit you made a mistake for the good of the cause..

I started to think about what i had last posted here...and something popped into my head, was i reading the DTS for the other core? So i ran it again and yes, i was reading the core i was not load testing..

So DTS formula for me is 4c-6coff of TAT...but never the same as TAT....if the DTS formula is right...i guess i am kind of half right...TAT for me wasn't 15c off, it is only 4c-6c off..

Forgetting about TAT, Speedfan, CoreTemp...

Intel says to use T_case as your thermal max...60c is max for me *** is the T_case...Is it the DTS formula result? Or is it Speedfan (doubtful) Or Everest?
