Upgrading from 22" to 24" Dell - Page 3

post #21 of 34
Yes, FPD2485 = 579.99 from Gateway. Should be cheaper in stores as soon as the new revision ships.

You can get them on Ebay for 530 as well. xD But I guess that's not THAT much cheaper than 600.00

Isn't the Samsung SM-245B supposed to be pretty good?

I've seen the 245B setup before but admittedly haven't had the chance to own one and operate it. It didn't strike me impressive, though I'm no end or be all of LCD monitors.

I just checked Dell's site and it's funny, they've listed the 2407 about 20.00 or so cheaper than the Gateway. Still would recommend the Gateway over that, though.

AND the fact that it's rated 100cd bright less than the Gateway and the Dell might be the reason why I didn't like it.

Lack of inputs @ 539/519 MIR right now might not justify it's price. Maybe 479.99. =|

++24" Gateway.

I've only had it for about two weeks now, but it seriously rocks. Seriously.

I went from mostly using a 52" TV @ 1024x768 to using this thing. I've owned a couple samsung lcds in the past and been extremely pleased with them. This one is better.

The only difference there really is on paper between the 3 is name, price and the Samsung has a 5ms response time as opposed to 6ms. But I don't know what they are like quality wise.

My brother has the Dell and it looks pretty good, but his PC is too crap to run any games at native resolution.

The Samsung has 100 less brightness and standard inputs. 6ms and 5ms GTG are too close to even matter. However, the brightness? You'll notice that straight-away.

It didn't hit me when I saw it, but that's why I didn't like it: it wasn't bright enough for a 24".

I could probably have been just fine with 22", but looking at it and a 24" side-by-side (both Gateway) the 24" does have a better picture.

Of course, I was also size-spoilt on that big TV and wanted the same experience at higher res.

Tbh, I think it would be a bit of a waste to upgrade from a 22" to a 24", is there any particular reason you wish to upgrade ?? i mean are there any specific demands in stuff you do or just one of those i-feel-like things ?
