My 7900 GTO won't go any higher!

Thread Starter
Is there a specific reason to why my EVGA GeForce 7900 GTO won't overclock past 718/805? I know many people have gotten much higher with even lower cards. I'm am using RivaTuner, am I doing anything wrong? At 718/805 it is running fine at 44 Celsius and I have no volt mods. Also as you might know this card takes up two slots because of its enormous fan. So if anybody can help me out that would be great!

Those are VERY nice clocks for a 7900 GTO. The 7900 GTO has a core voltage of 1.4, and in most cases, at that voltage, you would only get around ~700 on the core (my 7900 GT could only run at 675 with the 1.4 Vmod...). If you really want higher clocks you will have to do either the 1.5 or 1.6 vmod, or any mod in between (in 500mv increments i believe). Basically what im trying to say is, thats a nice OC on stock voltage!

Alright. I am on a 680i SLI mobo and i cant seem to find a straightforward way to volt mod... Or am I thinking wrong?

Any volt mods to the 7900 GTO will be conductive pen vmods (or replacing/modifying resistors). There is no "easy" way to vmod your card... though you could try a soft mod (bios mod).

Alright thanks. I didn't realize that I had good speeds going here. I don't think I will be able to soft mod it because there is no specific voltage option for the GPU so I probably will have to stick with what I've got.

the conductive pen mods are very easy, if you mess up wipe it off and try again

Would you be able to explain to me or point me to a place that I can see how to do it?

Wow, 718/805 on stock voltage. My PNY 7900GT only goes to 560/860 on stock.
