Enzotech Ultra X Installed! [PICS]

I just installed my Enzotech Ultra X. Performance is not much better then my old Zalman 9700, but I didn't really think it would be... dropped about 4c at load (50 now versus 54). I personally attribute the high temps to my extremely high ambient temp... around 30c (Lots of computer in one room... all folding... it gets extremely warm) and ofcourse my 2 8800 GTX's... Anyways, I really like the way it looks on this particular rig. Im digging how the whole interior is black! Enjoy the pics!

PS. I apologize for 1182 and its blurriness... I really need to purchase an IS lens...

Thats odd.. I assume you mean Enzotech Ultra-X? Alot of sites have it listed as non-compatible with 680i motherboards now.

It wouldn't work for me, the only way I could mount is was with the heatpipes going up, and enzotech said not to mount it that way. So I had to RMA it because the temps were hot.

Couldn't place the heatpipes facing my ram because my dominator ram was to tall.

Thats interesting... I wonder why the said not to mount it with the heatpipes going up. That is how I mounted it and my temps are a little better then my temps with my old 9700. Ill monitor the temps ofcourse, but so far after 20 or so minutes of stress testing the temps havent budged from 50/51.

My temps were horrible on it, I was getting 70C loads on stock speeds. Tried over 10 reseats, wasted a whole tube of as5. Whenever I tightened it the whole way my computer would start up and shut down.

I think its only incompatible with the A1 versions of the 680i (Something about the board doesn't like backplates, so it shuts down 2 seconds after starting up.)

(Linking in a moment!)
30C ambient!

I feel your pain, mang!

...

On my worst days here in houston, even with the AC off, my room is around 27C ...

Usually, though ... it's a pleasant 24C or so ...

...

Anyway ... 4C drop over your zalman is pretty darn good IMHO.
