ps3 update 1.80 released - Page 5

I originally bought my PS3 for blu-ray playback and not games. The only game I have is Resistance and it's great.

Now with all these firmware updates it does EVERYTHING the 360 can do and better I might add. Yes I own a 360 and can make that judgement.

The PS3 is simply fantastic. If you don't like it because of its price - fine. But for $600 you're getting one heck of a blu-ray player as well as almost anything a PC can do. No $600 PC, or $600 Blu-Ray players comes remotely clsoe to what this PS3 can do.

I can't wait til Christmas or beginning of the year. I'm actually ready to get a PS3 NOW but there aren't any games I'm really interested in.

When all the Squaresoft games start dropping I'm all over it.

As far as sharing movies and music and such - It can be a tad tricky if you don't know what to do (like me). I found some information on the PS3 forum. This should work nicely.

http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...hread.id=61911

The information there worked - My PS3 is now seeing both my laptop and desktop. What I need to figure out how to do next is find the correct folder to place all my media in, or designate the existing folders as shared media directories.

Any ideas?

Just add folders to your library in WMP, but as for video the thing doesn't support any decent codecs.

right click > tools > options > libary > monitor folders

Oh and sephoroth, the remake of FFVII is only a rumor, it started from a tech demo they did to showcase the ps3 power by remaking the intro to FFVII. I would love to see it remade, but square has not announced anything official.

Oh and high end scalers cost quite a bit, mostly ones that go up to 1080p. I don't think I have seen a 1080p one for less than 200. But its really easy to quickly go up the ladder.
