Need some advice??

Thread Starter
On my rig it seems even at a 20% overclock my ram is already running at it's max or close to it. So I have two Questions. Can your ram overheat to the point were it will crash a game if your playing it?? When playing Battlefeild 2142 everything is fine at 20% OC. As the ram gets hot will it get damaged or will it crash? Second If I were to change the ram timmings so I could raise the CPU speed up Will I get alot of improvement in games? I don't want to go crazy or anything, my cooling is not up to snuff. But at 20% it's at 2.55GHZ, so something like 2.7-2.75 I am thinking of. Is that possible while dividing the ram? I Basically only want to overclock that high when I want to do some Gamming. I would like to know If overclocking and having temps in the mid 60's is high too? I plan on getting a better cooler if I can get better performance in games by raising my CPU up some more. Right now I don't need to worry too much, just get a little nervious about how my rig will hold up to Crysis with the "EYE CANDY" on. So I am looking into how much more perfomance I can get with what I got.

i hate to be the one to tell you this, but because until recently it was told to me, so i have to...

your RAM is holding you back...

until a fews days ok, i could only get to a stable OC of 2.67ghz with my 533mhz RAM... now, since i got 800mhz ram i am stable at 3.6ghz, with temps in the low 30's on idle...

changing the timings on the RAM might help approx. 1-2%, but that's about it... best to leave on auto with that RAM, be happy with the OC for now and then work on getting some faster RAM...

hope this helps
