Problems with RAM

Thread Starter
Well is just got some new 512mb x2 ram and i thought id add it to the 1gb stick i already have in there..

so after ive installed it i checked in the bios and it tells me i have 1.5gb as opposed to the 2gb i should have..so after i booted into windows i checked cpu-z and it told me i had 2gb..task manager also tells me ive got 1.5gb..

anyone know how i can fix it so i can use the whole 2gb

Will 3 ram sticks work in a dual channel mobo?
Under the impression that for dual channel,,there must be an
even number of ram sticks.

Is it Possible that the 1gig and one 512 are in dual mode and the
3rd stick, 512mb,,is running in single channel?
If possible,,this may be what is confusing/tricking the taskmanager
into seeing just the 1.5.

If i knew the answer, i would not be asking the above questions,,but maybe
those questions might some synapses going.

Oftenwondered about how an odd number of ram sticks would work
in a dual channel board my self,,just never posted the question until now.
I'm SURE someone has tried it by now.
