An odd idea. - Page 2

I'd probably just go to the Boeing surplus store if I decide to do that. I'd get one for probably $5 there. If not there, there is a used PC parts store here in town. It's like a city of geeks here in the NW.

An update - I have this set up with slackware now. No need to tweak the BIOS either - just set the Liniux disk as primary boot, and LiLo lets you choose.

Yeah, I've set it up that way as well. Gonna leave linux alone for a bit now though, don't really have the time at the moment. My moms computer, when I get around to putting it together, is gonna be strictly Windows free. I'm gonna try every free OS I can get my hands on, well, the ones worth trying anyway. My mom and sisters love Feisty, and since they don't know much about computers, they won't be running into the same frustrations alot of us have with linux as they won't be "used" to doing anything in Windows before hand. They think it is much easier than Windows for the tasks they do, mostly internet, and 2D desktop games, music, etc.

I should have just installed Ubuntu for my mom rather than building her a vista-ready machine. C'est la vie...she's loaded anyway.
