Asus Build, q's re: Spec Choices, Pro/Con's?

I'm looking for some pro's/con's to the choices I'm looking at. I Might scale back to a e6420, or e6320. However i'm trying to save money, but get the best bang for my buck, so to speak. I initially will spend 2k on the system, probably load linux. I will most likely get vista / video capture card, and sound card later on, plus get the lcd later (I have a few spare monitor's currently...hehe).

So any suggestions in the long run?

Thanks,

Le_Loup

I know I forgot optical drive, I think I have one spare for the moment..hehe.

YOUR TOTAL $2,521.46

What do you think of that???
I liked most of your stuff, except the CPU cooler (know of bad experiences with that one), tuner card (that one I have is cheaper and definitely compatible with vista), RAM (that is sweet ram, but why not go for the 8500?), your PSU was very nice, but this one is just as nice for cheaper... I also put the sticker on there because it is a very top-end ASUS board which is packed with features and other cool stuff. The only real dissadvantage to going with a Striker is loosing the onboard wireless which is a 50 dollar fix to get a PCI card

There is only 1 tiny little drawback....

To do so, would be great, but my current cc limit = 1k... So that's why i'm looking local, however good choices, i'd probably still get the TT Big Typhoon overall, because I can get a better fan on there completely, or similar at least. But in the long run, a decent rig at the very least. And what is a p182? I've seen the 180's and some 190's recently... But I have the 180 for my cely rig, and it's amazingly cold. Plus for air cooling, my pc unfortunately only has sensor's for the 2 harddrives, and i'm getting 24-26 celcius per drive right now, o_o

Le_Loup

Though i've considered the striker extreme, and the evga edition and the gigabyte 680i edition also. (because gigabyte has quad giga lan, which is a nice touch lol).

The Antec P182 is like the P180, but it has some extra features: Ext. Fan control, ready for water cooling and easier to build, you wont need as long PSU cables as you need in P180. Did you check your sensors' in Everest? You can monitor your CPU in SpeedFan and your GPU in ATiTools.

I haven't tried Everest, I will now though.

Just tried, and, this is what came up, and a suggestion for my bios update for my pc, lol. And I can't get the "fan's" read, because the only current sensor's rigged... are the 2 harddrives, that's it, and a miscelaneous fan thing that goes at 29rpm which I visually can guarentee that doesn't, lmao, much faster.
