Thread Starter
I'm looking at getting either the x1950pro 512 or the x1950pro ultimate, but its 256 mb.

I'll be running at 1600x1200, so at that point how much does the difference matter, and how much does the difference in memory effect game performance? The x1950 pro apparently doesnt overclock well due to heat issues, but the ultimate has a built in zalman fan/heatsink, so that should help, but its only 256MB. Thanks for opinions.

I wouldn't count too much on overclocking the x1950pro even with a replacement fan. It's simply not a good overclocker--and the memory clock is locked except through the Catalyst Control Center.

As for 512mb or 256mb... we'll you're on the right track about larger textures. I'd personally still go with the 256mb model as it is cheaper, but someone else here might think otherwise.

Higher memory helps with the extra resolution and textures...you might aswell go for it.

What are the specs/price difference between the Pro and Pro Ultimate? Maybe some links possibly? Just curious.
