raptor acting a bit slow

Ok I just did a fresh install on windows on this newly built machine and my raptor seems a bit slow. When I move around from folder from to folder I get a hour glass for a second on the rebuild of the directory. This really shouldn't be happening. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

That is odd since raptors have incredible seek times. Do a defrag and run a diagnostic in HDD Tach and get back to us. I want to see if you raptor benches at. If it turns out okay in HDD Tach, we're looking at a Windows issue or bad RAID drivers/mobo support.

ends up this issue is releated to hd audio in the bios. Once disabled seek times are back to normal (as well as a quicker boot time). more reading about this and many other troubles relating to p5b deluxe....
